TGIF !

I know it's only Thursday, but I'm so looking forward to Friday, it's not even funny! It's been the longest week at work. I'm fed up with my job... I'm in need of a different challenge, something more motivating. Hopefully that'll come soon... I've applied on a bunch of different jobs within the government. *Fingers crossed*

New Moon comes out tonight... I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT!!! But guess what? I have to wait until next week... Gahh! The girls I'm going to see it with do not want to wait in lineups and sit in a packed theatre room, so we are going next weekend. I'm sure I'll give in and go Sunday afternoon. I'm very much looking forward to this movie. The 2nd book was my least favorite. I can't wait to see how it makes out in a movie!! Who else is going to see it?

Here are the plans for the weekend:

Friday evening : hang out with friends (maybe eat out for dinner, play bowling later on or just hang out at our place)
Saturday : 2nd visit (with S's parents this time) in a condo we visited this week + S's work christmas party + going out with S's friends for a birthday party
Sunday : recovering from previous night, lol, + regular sunday stuff : errands + laundry + cooking the meals for the week

Have a good weekend everyone!

Sharing a recipe!

I've mentionned before how obsessed I am with recipe blogs... cooking... or simply looking at recipes and planning my week of meals. Well, last week I decided to make one of my favorite salad dressings. I took advantage of the fact that S wasn't at home and took my camera out. Here is my recipe!

Raspberry vinaigrette

1|2 cup sunflower oil (or a light tasting oil)
1 tbsp of honey
1 or 2 minced garlic cloves
4 tbsp of raspberry jam
2 tbsp of tamari (soy) sauce (the original recipe calls for 4 tbsp which to me, seems way too much. even 2 seemed alot but it tasted great in the end.)
salt and pepper to taste

Mix all the ingredients together. Serve over mixed greens, cubed white cheddar cheese, toasted pine nuts and fresh raspberries. Enjoy!

10 things I hate...

... about public transportation!!!

I have to take a 15-minute bus ride to the subway station... and then about a 10-minute subway ride to work. YUK! I hate it so much, I had to make a list of the great reasons why public transportation sucks.

1. Can you please, for one morning, be on time?
2. Can you please, for one morning, not be full? So I can actually have room to hop on the bus and get to work like every other human being?
3. When it is so full, can the person next to me restrain from breathing down my neck, cough in my face or sneeze in my hair?
4. When you're on the phone, do you really have to be so loud everyone knows about last night's date?
5. It is simply DIRTY and DISGUSTING.
6. When I try to get off the bus or subway, can you please not stand in the door keeping my from exiting at my stop?
7. I know you like to listen to your ipod, but does it really have to be so loud I can listen to it too?
8. Why does it seem no other normal person takes the bus? Why do I have to get dirty looks because I do shower in the morning, do my hair and wear clean clothes?
9. Why do the bus drivers have to drive like maniacs? Do they not see the 20 people trying to hold on to those pole so they don't fall?
10. Did I mention it is dirty and disgusting? I know I will get sick soon... Nevermind the H1N1 flu!

Ok... public transportation is cheap. We only have one car at the moment, so I don't really have a choice. But does it mean I have to like it?

(I apologize for the huge vent. Now that I got it off my chest, I feel so much better. Thanks for reading!)

Getting ready for another week...

Do any of you do this: cook a few meals for the week ahead of time? I've gotten use to doing this for a little while now. I don't do it in the summer since there is lots and lots of barbecuing but in the fall, I love to make 2-3 meals on Sunday for the coming week. Today, I made these bruschetta stuffed chicken breast (I'll post the link later as blogger is not letting me right now!), I have BBQ ribs in the slow cooker and I'll be making chicken cacciatore in the slow cooker as well.

I have an on-line meeting for one of my class tomorrow evening. Tuesday, we need to run some errands... S bought 2 new suits today and needs to get the pants hemmed. Plus, I need winter boots. S plays hockey twice this week, plus I have an evening on-line class Thursday plus 2 homework to hand in. Saturday night, it's S's christmas work party (I know, it's early). I guess it's a packed week!

Guess what... we are visiting 2 houses this week!!! I'm so excited! Today, we went to 2 open houses... they were awful! We hated both of them... I'll post more info on the house later this week!

Have a good week!

I'm back...

Well, I'm back at home. The funeral was Tuesday... it was very sad. I'm tired from the week spent at my parents'. It's back to reality now... Life goes on.

I don't have time to post yet... I have a ton of laundry... homework... a class in 20 minutes... no fresh food in the fridge... A good post will have to wait.

I guess NaBloPoMo went out the window this year! I'll have to give it another try next time...

Leaving on an airplane...

I'm leaving this afternoon, at 2:45. I cannot wait to be home with my family! I feel so alone here, knowing they are all together at my parents' house. I do have Seb here with me, but it's not the same. There's nothing he can do or say that'll make me feel any better. Plus, he can't come with me. I wish he'd be there with me though... but I understand. He doesn't have much time off. He could only make it for the weekend and I'm assuming the funeral will only be early next week.

Thanks for all of your thoughts, it means alot.

...

My aunt passed away tonight. Her daughter waited for my mom's last sister to make it to town and decided on unplugging the ventilator. The doctors had done some tests throughout the day and she had no brain activity. They knew it wasn't worth having her much longer on the ventilator.

I'm flying out tomorrow afternoon. I don't have much details right now, but it'll be good to be home and with my family.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They are much appreciated.
